How to Customize Your Laundry Detergent Base with Fragrance

Our Laundry Detergent Base is designed to be easily customized with up to 2% fragrance oil of your choice. Follow the steps below to add your desired scent and create a market-ready, premium-quality detergent.

Step 1: Gather Your Materials

Before starting, make sure you have the following:
✔ Laundry Detergent Base (pre-measured for your batch size)
✔ Fragrance Oil (up to 2% of total batch weight)
✔ Mixing Container (if blending in bulk)
✔ Stirring Utensil (whisk, spoon, or industrial mixer)
✔ Scale (for precise fragrance measurement)

Step 2: Measure the Fragrance Oil
Calculate 2% of the total detergent base weight.
Example: If you have 1 gallon (128 oz) of detergent base, you can add up to 2.56 oz (approximately 114 mL) of fragrance oil.
Weigh out the fragrance oil using a precise digital scale.

Note: Some fragrances may be potent; you can start with 1%-1.5% and adjust as needed.

Step 3: Pre-Mix the Fragrance with Solubilizer (Optional)
If you want to ensure even dispersion, you can mix the fragrance with Polysorbate 20 or a small amount of propylene glycol before adding it to the base.
Use a 1:1 ratio of solubilizer to fragrance.
Stir well until fully combined.
Step 4: Incorporate the Fragrance into the Detergent Base
Slowly pour the fragrance (or fragrance-solubilizer blend) into the detergent base while stirring continuously.
Mix thoroughly for 3-5 minutes to ensure the scent is evenly distributed.
Use a hand whisk, industrial paddle mixer, or a mechanical stirrer for larger batches.
Step 5: Let the Mixture Rest
Allow the detergent to sit for 24-48 hours to ensure full incorporation of the fragrance.
This resting period also helps stabilize viscosity and scent retention.
